For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to build a Kegerator. This past holiday season I finally took the plunge and converted a freezer into a Keezer. I found a real nice build over on Homebrewtalk that I used as inspiration.

I first started with a new Freezer and a Johnson Control Thermostat Controller.

Next I had to build the collar. Here’s a few shots of the process.

After the collar was built, I used rope calking to attach to the freezer which turned out good since the collar wasn’t completely level. I added an extra layer of the calking so the collar laid level. Here’s a shot of the final build.

Overall, I’m really happy with how this turned out. I’ve set the Keezer to 39 which has been great for cold crashing prior to kegging as well. And I really enjoy the lagering that happens while the kegs are in the keezer. Since I’ve now kegged a few batched, I definitely can’t imagine going back to bottling every beer.
