Over the last year or so my tastes in beers have been changing and I’m gravitating towards lower alcohol, easy to drink beers. I’ve always been a big fan of lower gravity beers but the highly hopped beers just haven’t seemed as appealing as of late. For this beer I wanted a lower gravity beer with good body and some hop flavors but nothing too over the top. For this one, is a simple beer – few malts, few hops and medium level attenuation ale yeast.
Mash – 152
Ferm. Temp: 69
Malts: Superior Pils, Floor Malted BoPils Malt, Wheat Malt, Carafoam, Acidulated Malt
Hops: El Dorado, Galaxy, Centennial
Yeast: Imperial A38 Juice
This one turned out great, drinks bigger than a 4% beer with great flavor. No bitterness but nice hop flavors come through. The Keg lasted barely 6 weeks, which is a sign people were really enjoying it. The keg blew before I could do real tasting notes but hop flavors of tropical fruit, dank, and citrus were most prominent. I’m planning on brewing some more hoppy blonde ale’s throughout summer as this one was nice one to have on tap. Cheers!
